The Las Vegas Monorail (MGM Grand to Sahara)
The Las Vegas Monorail runs from the MGM Grand to the Sahara hotel. The route has seven stations: MGM Grand, Bally's / Paris, Flamingo, Harrah's / Imperial Palace, Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas Hilton and the Sahara. The monorail is open Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. and Friday - Sunday, 7 a.m. - 3 a.m. Rates for the monorail are $5 for one ride, or $14 for an unlimited one-day pass and $30 for an unlimited three-day pass. Tickets can be purchased online at the Las Vegas Monorail site.

Mandalay Bay-Excalibur Tram
This monorail's route varies based on what hotel you start at. If you start at the Excalibur main station, the monorail will take you directly to Mandalay Bay - about a 3-minute trip. If you start from Mandalay Bay, you will stop at the Luxor and then the Excalibur - about a 7-minute trip. It is in operation 24 hours a day, and trains leave every 3-7 minutes.

Airport Shuttles
Mandalay Bay does not offer a shuttle service. Shuttles are available at the airport and they drop off at all the major strip hotels. Mandalay is usually either the very first drop off or the very last drop off. Shuttles generally cost $4-$6 per person. Varieties of shuttle/limousine services are available at McCarran, and are located on the north and west sides of baggage claim, outside door exits 8-14. Advanced reservations are highly recommended especially when there are big conventions in town or during holidays.

Taxis

Taxis run regularly throughout the city and airport. A Taxi will cost between $16-$20, for up to 5 people traveling from McCarran Airport to Mandalay Bay. Taxicabs are available outside on the east side of baggage claim, outside door exits 1-5.

Buses

Buses run based on scheduled service, CAT (Citizens Area Transit), and transport passengers to most major streets in Las Vegas. For schedule information, call (702) 228-7433. Bus tickets are sold by the driver.

Tipping

The Las Vegas Visitors Bureau gives the following guidelines for tipping while you’re in Vegas:

  • In Vegas, 15 to 20 percent of the total bill is a good rule of thumb for tipping. Some additional guidelines follow.
  • Hotel personnel: Generally tip $1 to $2 for each bag of luggage. If you are using concierge services, a $5 tip is appropriate.
  • Dealers and slot attendants: A small bet for the dealer is the usual method of tipping at gaming tables. A small tip is also appropriate for keno runners and slot attendants.
  • Taxi drivers and tour guides: Taxi drivers usually receive $1 to $2 for a direct route, or follow the 15 to 20 percent rule, whichever is greater You should provide $1 to $2 to tour guides for each person at the end of the tour.
  • Valet parking and housekeeping: You should tip $2 to a parking valet, while $2 a day is a good tip for housekeeping services.
